Energy from Fossil fuel is the lifeblood of developed Western industrial civilization. The use of cheap and reliable energy from fossil fuel has eliminated hunger, poverty, lack of shelter, drudgery, and provided healthier, more comfortable, and longer lifespans. The US has over one hundred years or more supply of cheap and reliable deposits of fossil fuels – coal, oil, and natural gas on Public land. Eliminating the use of fossil fuel resources and replacing them with high cost and unreliable renewable energy sources (like wind and solar) will result in a substantially lower standard of living for Americans and condemn developing nations to perpetual poverty. Condemning people to a life time of poverty to solve a non-existent global warming problem in the name of “saving the planet” is nothing more than a religious belief. A religious belief that by doing penance the earth can be saved from the sins of man when the facts show mitigating CO2 will do nothing to mitigate climate change. Self flagellation may be what the Catastrophic Climate Change followers believe is the best way to “save the earth” from the sins of man, but most rational science grounded people know that self flagellation is not the way to Utopia.
